We people of Mnisota Makoce know well the wild expanse between the season of darkness and the season of light. How, after a winter so soaked in grief, do we step forward, joyfully, to greet the Spring. In all corners of this weary world, people wake from the night of despair and set themselves to the work of liberation and peace.
By their example, strengthened by their love, we celebrate the returning of the sun.
Our work is not finished.
We see the day beyond empire, when our descendents sit together at the table of abundance and peace. Today, and every day, we step forward into that future”.
We pray for liberation. We pray for Spring.

- Call to action,
spoken at end of Ceremony

Two Birds Dance in Honor of Renee and Alex

“We remember Renee and Alex, we remember all the victims  from state violence
and gun violence, members of this beloved community whose lives were taken, whose absence has left a void in their families and our communities
that is impossible to fill.  In their memory today, we leave room for wonder,
we continue to resist and we dance in their honor”
- Text spoken in Ceremony

“This winter in Minneapolis over 3,000 of our neighbors were taken, their lives were ripped apart, families separated, some children will never see their parents again, their hearts filled with tears, we cry for their absence in our community, We cry into the Mississippi so that our tears may eventually reunite with theirs in the ocean, For water knows no borders, may we recognize our grief as shared” - Text spoken in Ceremony
